This may seem to be good
news to ‘Casanova’. According to some
researchers at the University of Montreal and INRS-Instit5ut Armand-Frappier,
men who had slept with more than 20 women in their lifetime were 28% less
likely to develop the disease, compared to those who had only a female partner.
However, the same did not
apply to gay man, according the Canadian scientists.
According to one theory,
large numbers of ejaculations may reduce the concentration of cancer-causing
substances in prostatic fluid, a constituent of semen. They may also lead to
fewer crystals-like structures that have been associated with cancer.
When asked why the same
explanation could not be applied to male partners, one of the scientists,
Professor Parent, admitted that she could not provide ‘highly speculative’
explanation. She, however, went ahead to speculate that anal intercourse maybe
producing a physical trauma to the prostate.
On the question of whether
promiscuity might now be recommended in health advise to men, she replied that
‘we’re not get there yet.’
